In Memory of...
Carcoar has received more than its share of sadness this past week with the passing of three well known local identities: “Charlie” Howarth, Robyn Bell and “Rick” Blowes. All three were long time Carcoarians and passed away within a day or so of each other.
Charles “Charlie” Howarth passed away peacefully at Littlewood House, Blayney on 14th October. His funeral was held at St Paul's Anglican Church with the service conducted by Ron Murray. Charlie grew up in Carcoar and was married to Colleen for 60 years. In 1962, he and his family moved to Cargo where he had his own garage business for four years, before moving to Cumnock, where he continued to keep the cars running. Charlie and Colleen came back “Home” in 1971 and purchased Clark’s Enterprise Stores. Charlie went on to open his own garage and in later years he was a familiar figure around town walking his dogs and feeding the ducks down at the river.
Robyn Bell (nee Ridley) passed away on 14th of October and was a much loved wife and mother. Richard “Rick” Blowes passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years on 15th October, at home, surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, Irene, and his family. With Charlie, Robyn and Rick passing away within such a short period their families and the village community are experiencing considerable grief in their loss. On behalf of the Carcoar community we extend our deepest sympathy to their family and friends.
