Shalom Big Fat Christmas BBQ

On Friday December 15 Shalom will be hosting a Christmas Barbeque and, in the spirit of peace and goodwill, the good folk on the hill would like to extend an open invitation to all Carcoarians to attend. It promises to be great night with a Greek themed menu (spit roasted lamb, Moussaka and Spanakopita), a Christmas pageant, music and fun. Festivities will kick off at 6pm. Trusteeship Gazetted

The trusteeship of the Carcoar School of Arts has now been gazetted by the Department of Lands and Property. The School of Arts Community Hall Carcoar Inc. are the new trustees. The new body is currently looking at obtaining funding to undertake urgent repairs to the hall which has been a focus for community gatherings for well over a century. Village Plan On Track

On Wednesday 22 November Blayney Shire Council invited members of the Carcoar community to come along and revisit the vision and projects for Carcoar which were first identified at the 'Our Carcoar' meeting which was held back in 2015. Around fifty locals attended the workshop and shared their thoughts on topics which included new business opportunities and encouraging tourism activities. Overall the general feeling was positive. A number of items, such interpretative signage, were ticked off the earlier 'wish list' and some new ideas added. The results of the meeting are currently being compiled by Council and will be available in the new year.

Nature On Your Doorstep

It has been two years since the REVIVE project at Pound Flat first began and today the area is showing tremendous signs of recovery thanks to the efforts of the Green Army, Blayney Shire Council and local volunteers. On Saturday 25 November project manager Brian Parker conducted a guided walk and talk around the Pound Flat site which attracted fifty one people. During his talk Brian spoke about the value of biodiversity and used photographs to show the dramatic results which have been achieved sofar. Back then it was a weed and willow infested waterway. Community BBQ To Celebrate Revive!

Blayney Shire Council, in conjunction with the Carcoar Urban Landcare Group and the Office of Environment and Heritage is inviting the community to celebrate one of the biggest environmental REVIVE programs undertaken in the Blayney Shire – the rehabilitation of the Belubula River at Pound Flat in historic Carcoar - and the launch of REVIVE 2. It is more than two years since the REVIVE project first began and the area is now a pristine natural recreational area with native trees, shrubs, nesting boxes for birdlife and marsupials and walking trails ready for locals and visitors to enjoy. Picturing History

Three interpretive panels have recently been installed in the bus shelter in Kurt Fearnley Park. Through words and images the panels will transport visitors and locals through Carcoar's rich history from early settlement through to more recent times. The project, which aims to entice people to explore the town and visit the local museums, was one of the key items identified by the community on the 'Our Carcoar' wishlist.
