Pound Flat Stage 2 Underway

A low mechanical thrum reverberates around the village heralding the commencement of Stage two of the 'Revive Project' at Pound Flat. The heavy machinery has moved in and already significant progress has been made in clearing the weed infested river bank behind the Showground. Local man John Hansen was fascinated by the skill of the contractors operating the large excavators: 'I came across this incredibly powerful thing delicately plucking whole trees out of the ground like picking flowers and laying them down neatly in a row all facing the same way.' Submit Your Family Favourites

Carcoar Public School is publishing their very own cookbook. The school would like to involve the entire community by including some of your favourite family recipes. Submissions will close August 1 2018. To submit your recipe go to the link on the attached flyer.

Carcoar School of Arts Community Hall

On Sunday 22 the Carcoar School of Arts Community Hall Committee held its AGM. The election of office bearers took place with Kim Bright re-elected as president. The committee is currently looking at obtaining funding to undertake urgent repairs to the hall which has been a focus for community gatherings for well over a century. Christmas in July

On Saturday July 21 the Lyndhurst RSL sub branch hosted 'Christmas In July' at the Carcoar School of Arts. Around forty RSL members and guests attended the event which included a three course luncheon as well as raffles and special prizes. A big thank you to Kim and Phil Morecome who did the catering.

Shalom's Bread of Life Weekend Retreat

On the weekend of July 20 to 22 Shalom Carcoar will host their Bread of Life Weekend Retreat. It’s going to be a reflective time, but also a relaxing and fun time as you learn how to bake the best sourdough, learn some new meditation prayer styles, go on some lovely walks and enjoy some scrumptious food. This retreat is for everyone to enjoy and the best part is there is no need to have any technical baking skills or advanced training, or holiness, or to be churched in any way to attend. Winter Bright Lights

Winter is a magical time in the Tablelands and as part of the “Winter Wonderland” themed events in the Blayney shire throughout July, the Carcoar Royal Hotel will be hosting a series of 'Winter Bright Light Dinners' on the 14th and 28th July. Featuring hearty Winter themed menus each with 3 courses, it will be a great way to enjoy a chilly evening with friends by the wood fire. Wiradjuri Art Project Meeting

At a recent gathering local Wiradjuri artist Nyree Reynolds discussed her ideas for a series of murals on the four large pillars of the highway overpass at Pound Flat. All who attended the meeting were very supportive of Nyree's vision which chronicles “A Day in the Life of a Wiradjuri Family”. Now A final preliminary meeting will be held at the river crossing site at Pound Flat on Thursday July 5 at 1.30pm. This meeting will aim to create the final draft of the project to be submitted to Council for approval. All interested people are urged to attend.
