Kurt's Fairytale Farewell

“I’ve received so much from the organising committee, from the grassroots up ... all you can do is really try and give back a little, and that was an hour and 30 of giving back, that hurt mate — I’ve got nothing else.” That was how an exhausted Kurt Fearnley summed it up after winning gold in the Commonwealth games T54 marathon this week. Crossing the line in a new Games record of 1:30.25 and more than a minute ahead of the next, it was Kurt's last race in representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games and was proof of his determination to make it a fairytale goodbye. Farewell Ada

Sad news with the passing of Ada Mason. For many years Ada and her husband Ted were actively involved with Shalom House of Prayer until their retirement in 2009. Following Ted's passing Ada continued to live in the house they built high on the hill and was a familiar sight walking about town in her signature pink straw hat. Only recently she had made the decision to return to Dubbo to be closer to family. Ada was a much loved and admired member of the local community and will be remembered for her dry wit and practical advice.

The Down to Earth Gardening Expo has been incorrectly advertised for this weekend in the Orange City Life magazine. The Expo will take place on Sunday 29 April at the Carcoar Showground. Please spread the word. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Expo.
