Kurt's Fairytale Farewell

“I’ve received so much from the organising committee, from the grassroots up ... all you can do is really try and give back a little, and that was an hour and 30 of giving back, that hurt mate — I’ve got nothing else.” That was how an exhausted Kurt Fearnley summed it up after winning gold in the Commonwealth games T54 marathon this week. Crossing the line in a new Games record of 1:30.25 and more than a minute ahead of the next, it was Kurt's last race in representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games and was proof of his determination to make it a fairytale goodbye. Next stop, the London marathon. (Photo courtesy of David Gray)
