Vale Anna & Ruby

Sad news with the passing of two well known local identities, Ruby Hamilton and Anna Fearnley. Both were widely known and highly respected throughout the community. For just under thirty years Anna operated the Carcoar Post Office and also ran The Five Frogs Guest House from the same premises. She was involved in the community and was a member of the Uralba board and various district sporting associations. Ruby Hamilton (nee Bright) was the youngest of eleven children and lived in Carcoar all her life with her husband Slim and their four children. She was known for helping out at local functions and her cream puffs and jelly slices were always a highlight of any function she helped cater for

Success @ Pound Flat

The nesting boxes which have been placed in trees throughout the Pound Flat area are proving to be a great success. Four of the five boxes designed for small native fauna such as Sugar Gliders now have nests. Carcoar Landcare President Eric Foote said that it was “fantastic to see the native wild life returning to the area this early in the project.” More animal and bird nesting boxes will be added to the site in coming weeks.

The Annual General Meeting of the Carcoar Village Association will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday July 12, 2017, at the Carcoar School of Arts. Nomination Forms are available from the secretary. Fees for membership are now due.

Somewhere In Time

Last week the Lithgow Photography Group travelled back in time when they visited Carcoar. Judging from their photos which can be viewed on Facebook the group had a wow of a time dressing up in period costume and posing at various landmarks within the village. Pound Flat Planting Day

This Thursday, June 8, members of the community are invited to come along and take part in a planting session at Pound Flat from 9am. This will be a great opportunity not only to get involved but also to see first hand the tremendous progress being made on the largest native plant regeneration project undertaken in the shire. Council staff and The Green Army will be there with all the equipment and the trees. Hope you can be there to help out.

Carcoar school students will take part in an excursion to the Court House and Stoke Stable Museum on Thursday June 15. They will be acting out several 19th century court cases scripted by the Carcoar Historical Society and will be dressed in some of the courtroom clothing on display in the Court House. The enthusiasm of the students and teaching staff is already apparent with rehearsals currently underway.
